Abstract

The material analyses were undertaken on some pseudo-buckle fragments, which were acquired from Dunapentele (Dunaújváros), Hungary, during World War 1 and are now housed in the RGZM. The measurements concentrated on the identification of the “plaster-like” filling on the reverse as well as on the composition of the silver sheet. The measurements were undertaken by the μ-XRF method in an atmospheric environment as well as under vacuum. Because of the high rate of corrosion of the silver sheets, the original material composition could not be identified. The “plaster-like” filling consisted mainly of lead.
